Message from the President ‘Colin Clark’

Good afternoon to All!

It is a shame that more people couldn’t play at some of our NALG QLD events and this new 2019 venue at Maleny would have to rate as one of our better competitions and venues. I absolutely loved the course, even with only 12 holes available to play at the moment. What a beautiful layout! The remaining holes will be open in the New Year and will be a worthwhile trip for when it opens! The sausage sizzle was great to finish the day!

Thanks to all who played and to the organisers! Mr Brian Kruger won on 39 points and Mr Peter Robson was runner up on a count back with 39 points as well! Phill Daly had 38 points. All who played received a ball in the run down! Craig Bartholomew won the NTP.

This year is fast closing in on us and I have enjoyed the 2019 NALG QLD events and am now looking forward to the Hervey Bay / Maryborough weekend from December 6th -8th. It is always a fabulous weekend so I hope to see as many as possible celebrate the 2019 year with us that weekend! Please refer to the attachment in the recent email for the information.

I also would like to wish Mr Frank Oreb, one our members and sponsors a speedy recovery and hope to see him back on the golf course in 2020!

Good luck to all the NALG QLD members venturing to Hobart for the Nationals!

Good Evening to all NALG QLD members, families, supporters and other NALGA Divisions,

Apologies for the late post as I have been swamped with work and our satellite internet has been offline due to the strong winds the past few days.

Before you read the latest message from the NALG QLD President Col Clark, it is with great sadness that I inform you of the passing of Mr John Steley on Tuesday morning.  John was a former NALGA President and NALGA life member and his contributions to NALGA over the years were greatly appreciated by all who knew him. He will certainly be missed. NALG QLD sends our deepest condolences to the Steley Family.

What a fabulous day of golf it was with our Northern Rivers NALGA friends at the Coolangatta-Tweed Heads Golf Club on September 22nd! The CTHGC was a great challenge with the NALG QLD side prevailing with a close win over NALG NR which we enjoyed.

Captain Jeff Hogan continues to shine with yet another NALG QLD win (33 points) with Craig Bartholomew claiming the runner up with 32 points. NALG NR winner and recipient of the Ray Meiers Cup was the very popular Dot Rose (34 points). Maureen Hogan (35 points) was the Righty winner and Brendan Hogan was the runner up with 34 points.

I’d like to sincerely thank the 27 players for your support and a special thank you to the Schindel Family for their donation and shield. Thanks to the NALG NR for your company again this year and NALG QLD look forward to maintaining this annual tradition for many more years to come. I’d also like to welcome new members Amy Sullivan and Ted Elliot and look forward to seeing them at future NALG QLD events!

The next NALG QLD event will be held at Maleny Golf Club on Sunday October 20th at 10.30am. I look forward to seeing you all at Maleny. Please phone President Col Clark on 0427 457 063 or Captain Jeff Hogan 0403 008 287 for more information regarding booking a tee time for Maleny as soon as possible.

Don’t forget the NALGA National Championships will be in Hobart this November and the highlight of the NALG QLD year is the Hervey Bay & Maryborough Event on the 7th- 8th December.

Always a winner! Thank You All! Cheers!

Col Clark

The Maroochy River event was held on 18.8.19 and 22 players enjoyed the great course and the typical PERFECT Queensland weather! We hope to return again next year as all players thoroughly enjoyed the day. A big thank you to Robbie Moule and Keith Horne for sponsoring the Maroochy River event.  The platters were superb and I’m certain there wasn’t a crumb left on the plates! It was also great to have NALG QLD member Trevor Wesener back playing golf again.

The highlight of the day was the President of the NALG RIVERINA, Col Holdsworth and his partner Noela Whiteford who embraced the opportunity for a fabulous day of golf with the Queenslanders not to mention Tony Wilson from NSW who also traveled over the border to spend a day with us at Maroochy River.   It was a delight to welcome them to Queensland and to hear from Col about the 2020 NALGA Nationals which will be held at Tocumwal where everything planned will be within a 10 minute drive.

The results from Maroochy River are:

LH Winner:  Jeff Hogan  38 points
LH/ Runner up: Richard Robinson 35 points
RH Winner: Stephen Kelly 38 points
RH/ Runner up: Ron Grainger 34 Points
Pin Shots: Jeff Hogan & Craig Bartholomew
The sponsor of the day, Robbie Moule also played awesome golf and finished with 37points!

Don’t forget the next event is the annual trek down to Coolangatta-Tweed where we team up with the Northern Rivers NALG golfers! This event will be held on Sunday, September 22nd at 11am.  If you are still to book a spot please phone the Captain Jeff Hogan on 0403 008 287

Cheers ... and keep the word going that the NALG QLD events are the ones to play if you want a great day of golf with awesome Queenslanders,

The Gailes NALG QLD golf day continues to have its regular followers. A big thank you to all who turned up to play. We had 20 players including Bonnie Sullivan (Jeff & Maureen Hogan's Daughter) and Amy (their Granddaughter) was the added highlight of the day especially seeing a junior golfer enjoying her golf. Burgers were the meal for the afternoon and were well received! Great job Gailes!

The winners were:

The coming events are MAROOCHY RIVER on Sunday August 18th with a 10am start. Hope to see a few more players there. Please phone Captain Jeff Hogan on 0403 008 287 to put your name on the list. If you wish to play, NALG QLD will be subsidising the cart cost. Please let Jeff know if you need a cart.  Don't forget next month is the TWEED HEADS CHALLENGE which is a must play NALG QLD event!

Thank you all for your support. See you at the next NALG QLD event : MAROOCHY RIVER!
